Post Wedding Check-in

Well, I have made it through all the insanity and I think I managed to not loose my mind. lol We are now moved into our new place (though not completely) and we had a lovely wedding, and we're enjoying our "family honeymoon" this weekend. I'll be back to posting regularly, but initially, I will no longer be making daily posts. I will, however be posting at least once a week while I try to get our daily lives back to normal and get the lil one set up for the new school year.

Without further ado - I bring you a wedding photo! For the moment, it's the only one I have access to but I promise to post at least one more of the entire dress.

Of course, since this is a nail blog - this entry would not be complete without a photo of my manicure for the day!! I did my nails with Gelish and I took this picture almost a week later so there is some growth going on there. I still love the look!

The flowers are from my daughter's bouquet. She was one of my bridesmaids and I had to get the nails with the flowers becauses I did like my wedding flowers. I wonder how much of that is because I did my own flowers? haha!

That's all for this week - I'll see you all next Sunday! Have a nailicious week!

Busy Bees

Good Morning and a Groovy Tuesday to you! I saw this awesome nail art yesterday on Nails Magazine's Nail Art Gallery and I knew right away I had to do it!!

So, in honor of the spring flowers, I bring you bees! You just can't have flowers without bees.

I am just in love with this nail art. It was much easier to do than I thought it would be. So either I'm getting much better at free-hand nail art, or it's easier than it looks. Maybe it's a combination of both!

One more picture just because I think it's the cutest thing ever.

I used Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear, "Mellow Yellow" for this. It's honestly the best yellow for all the nail art I've done over the years. I did the rest using Acrylic Paint which has quickly become a staple for me.

Easter Designs

Good Morning and a Happy Easter to those that celebrate it!

I have two designs for you today! One was inspired by one of the other mom's at my daughter's school and the other is a culmination of all the things I've done this week. First I'm going to start with the one inspired by Kelly. She's a deeply religious christian gal and a real sweetheart. Her family celebrates the Easter season as a religious holiday only. That is what really inspired me to do this mani.

That one is for you Kelly!!

My second one is the one I did for myself to wear today and tomorrow at the school Easter Egg Hunt. I decided to do a little of everything with this one. I loved the color polishes I chose for the Kelly inspired design so I went ahead and did that again for this one too.

My pre-schooler really likes this one and I did it more for her than for me.  I hope you enjoyed today's designs and enjoy the holiday (for either religion) or if that's not your thing - you just have a great day!!

Pop Goes the Chickie

Good Morning and Happy Friday Eve! I've just about exhausted my ideas for Easter Patterned nail art and now I'm moving onto other things within that Easter Theme. Today's nail of the day is Easter Eggs with a hatching chick as an accent nail. I'm going to just get right to the pictures today and let them speak for themselves!

I have no name for the purple, it was part of a "Sally's girl" neon collection but I felt this one should have a bright color rather than a pastel color. The yellow for the chick is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, , and the rest of the chick I did in acrylic paint as well as the designs for the "eggs"

That's all for today's nail art. I spent quite a bit of time getting this chick right. I am not telling how many times I had to re-do that nail. I was determined to get it right, even going so far as to looking up tutorials about doing chick nails. I am glad I stuck it out,  I'm more than happy with how it finally came out. Always seems to be worth the effort to do and re-do as many times as I need until I'm finally happy with it.

Will you be coloring eggs this year?

Wallpaper Butterflies

Good Morning and a groovy Tuesday to you!  This morning I have another attempt at a nail art I saw on pinterest. I really enjoyed doing this one. I have a fab striping brush that is perfect for doing straight stripes. It doesn't work well for anything but stripes but today that's an awesome brush to have! Now on to the pictures!

One more just because I can.

This was relatively simple to do. I painted the nails white, then using a striping brush, I painted stripes on each nail in different colors. Using a stamping plate, I then stamped on a few butterflies. Can you see which one has an upside down butterfly? I did do that on purpose, really I did.

You'll notice that I'm back to using lone nails rather than my own. I just couldn't bear to give up my Tiger manicure just yet. Hardly anyone has even seen it, so I'm going to wear it a few more days!!

Daisies in a field of green

Good Morning! Today I will be showing you my current mani that I've been wearing since Sunday! I stayed up pretty late Saturday night working on this because it takes me so long to take off the old Gelish colors. Since it's me doing it, I can only do one hand at a time, so it takes twice as long. I also couldn't decide what I wanted to do with this fabulous green!! I had been watching videos on you tube, by love4nails and one of her videos showed a different technique for doing flower petals than the one I had been using. I ultimately decided to give this a try, and here it is.

I had to take these with my phone, so I apologize if the photos are of a poorer quality.

I definitely like this technique. I'm not totally ready to dump the other method just yet, but I definitely believe that this would be ideal to use with Gelish. I also want to comment on the green color here. It's a shimmery frosted green and I really am amazed just how much I like it once I got it on and got it cured. I couldn't resist doing daisies since daisies are the perfect design to go with a green background!  I hope you enjoyed and strongly encourage you to check out the other videos on love4nails' youtube channel!!

Do you watch a lot of youtube tutorials? Who are your favorites?

Froggy Flowers

Good Morning Everyone! Today's nail art is a lil stamped frog chilling in the flowers and the rain.  I hope you enjoy it!

I'm sad to say you really can't see the amazing gradient I did with this one. You can almost see it in this picture, but it looks more like texture and less like the greenish-gold shimmers that it should be. It's definitely a gradient combination I'll do again, but I'll remember to do it during the daytime, so it can be photographed in full sun. Hopefully that will help.

I might have to take a few days off from doing nail art. I was practicing my acrylic work today and got a glob of dried acrylic in my brush. Silly me used my fingers to free glob knowing full well that I am sensitive to acrylic and now my hands are all swollen. Fortunately, I did manage to get a few more nail arts done this evening before the offended fingers got puffy, so I do have two more days worth of pictures to show you. Hopefully, by then, I'll be recovered enough to get some more done. If not, I can always write do a post about something other than nail art. There are other aspects to being a manicurist that I just LOVE.
